On a wonderful autumn day, September 21, the Department of Journalism and Philology of the FPCS Sumy State University gathered its first-year students, growing mass media professionals, who from now on became the ZHT-21 group. There were many reasons for the meeting, but the most important one was the freshman's cathedral day.

This problem was studied by the assistant of the Department of Journalism and Philology of the FPSC of Sumy State University, Doctor of Philosophy in the specialty 035 Philology Olena Ishchenko within the framework of the advanced training program implemented thanks to the cooperation agreement with the University of Liverpool (Great Britain).

Students of the fourth year of the Department of Journalism and Philology of the Faculty of FPSC Sumy State University, studying the discipline "Newspaper and magazine production", met in the mode of a video conference with professional media designer Nina Spiridonova.

For the first time, Sumy State University held a defense of a thesis for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in the field of knowledge 06 "Journalism" in the specialty 061 "Journalism".

The 2022 admissions campaign is coming to an end. The cohort of first-year students of the Department of Journalism and Philology of the Faculty of FPSC Sumy State University was replenished with twenty-three first-year bachelors, which was documented by the decisions of the admissions committee No. 0686-ІІІ dated 08/19/2022, No. 0706-ІІІ dated 08/22/2022, No. 0824-ІІІ dated 09/05/2022 and 0849 - III dated 06.09.2022.

Associate Professor of the Department of Journalism and Philology of the Faculty of FPSC Sumy State University Alla FEDORINA knows the clear answer to this question, because she is the coordinator from the Sumy region of the project “Mentoring course of institutional development of local media of Zhytomyr, Sumy and Chernihiv regions “Media of new communities”. Its final stage took place the other day in Zhytomer.

Summer is the best time to participate in international scientific conferences. Adhering to this philosophy of the Department of Journalism and Philology of the Faculty of FPSC SSU, Associate Professor Yaroslav YANENKO took part in two international scientific forums.

The Department of Journalism and Philology FPSC Sumy State University together with the Department of Audiovisual Arts of the Johann Gutenberg University (Mainz, Germany) completed the international virtual academic mobility program "Media in a Global and European Context". The project lasted from April 27 to July 21, 2022.

At the department of journalism and philology of the FPSC SSU, people remembered, smiled, hid tears, thanked, wished success... And it was called - awarding diplomas to bachelor graduates.

The Faculty of Foreign Philology and Social Communication of Sumy State University, the regional organization of the National Union of Journalists and the NGO “Sumy Press Club” founded the “Greetings from Ukraine” project. The goal is to support children who, due to the beginning of the full-scale military invasion of the Russian Federation in Ukraine, are forced to go abroad.

Associate Professor of Journalism and Philology, FPSC SSU Tetyana Kovalyova  took part in a training on digital security, which took place on June 24.

On June 13-17, Tetyana Kovalyova, Associate Professor of the Department of Journalism and Philology, IFSС SSU, as a participant in the educational project “Journalism in Wartime”, took part in an educational trip to Prague.
