This problem was studied by the assistant of the Department of Journalism and Philology of the FPSC of Sumy State University, Doctor of Philosophy in the specialty 035 Philology Olena Ishchenko within the framework of the advanced training program implemented thanks to the cooperation agreement with the University of Liverpool (Great Britain).

In May and June 2022, the teacher attended online courses "Leveraging Your Transferable Skills for the Future" (25.05.2022), "Evaluating Impact: Going above and beyond the evaluation form" (26.05.2022), "Mastering Research Collaboration: Working Together gets the best out of all" (10.06.2022). Globalization, sustainable development, integration processes, the importance of implementing European values - this is far from an exhaustive list of topics discussed by representatives of various countries.

From July 4 to 22, 2022, Olena Ishchenko studied at the International Summer School of the University of Liverpool, taking the course "Fake News, Fake Science and Critical Thinking: What should I believe?". The training took place online and asynchronously. Much attention was paid to independent work. Module leader Professor Philip Leakey is a media expert specializing in finding fakes in journalistic materials and scientific publications. The main topics for discussion were: the ability to recognize facts, judgments and fakes in media text, the importance of media literacy, means of countering propaganda, analysis of low-quality scientific articles, recognition of predatory journals, etc.

– I am sincerely grateful to the University of Liverpool and the department of UMS of Sumy State University, which made it possible for me to participate in both online courses and the International Summer School. For me, as a young specialist, it was a wonderful experience of communicating with foreign colleagues and a great opportunity to gain European experience in media literacy and implement it in my teaching activities at the Department of Journalism and Philology of the FPSC  Faculty of Sumy State University, – said Olena Ishchenko.

Constant improvement of teachers' professional and pedagogical skills is the department's philosophy aimed at improving the educational process.
