At the invitation of the University of Vienna, Associate Professor of the Department of Journalism and Philology Maryna NABOK in December gave a course of lectures to Slavic students on the topic «National Resilience in the Context of the Epic Tradition of Ukrainians: From Antiquity to the Russo-Ukrainian War 2014–2025».

The Department of Journalism and Philology of SSU celebrated the 20th anniversary of the foundation of the specialty “Journalism”. They decided to mark the date by collecting archival photos into a single exhibition of memories.

Anna CHERNYSH and Maryna SADIVNYCHA, academic staff of the Department of Journalism and Philology of Sumy State University, and postgraduate student Olga YAKOVENKO participated in the training session ‘How to be published in Nature: the perspective of a former editor’, organised as part of WriteFest 2024 by the University of Liverpool.

The festival of school media and young authors of the Sumy region “Media space leads to the universe” 2024-2025 is open. The organizers announced this on November 13 at a specially organized event in the congress center of Sumy State University. Join in!

The final stage of the All-Ukrainian Tournament of Young Journalists (VTYUZ) ended in Lutsk. The jury included representatives of the Department of Journalism and Philology of the FРSC Sumy State University: the head of the department, professor, head of the Sumy Regional Organization of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine Volodymyr Sadivnychyi and associate professor, Honored Journalist of Ukraine Alla Fedorуna.

Nataliia Ponomarenko, a senior lecturer at the Department of Journalism and Philology of the Faculty of FPSC of Sumy State University, won the bronze medal of the Meet the Teacher project competition aimed at improving the media literacy of educators and students.

Anna CHERNYSH and Maryna SADIVNYCHA, teachers of the Department of Journalism and Philology of the FPSC of Sumy State University, took part in the seminar «Navigating the (mis)information Ecosystem», organized by the School of Arts of the University of Liverpool.

Having passed the competitive selection, Nataliya PONOMARENKO, a senior lecturer at the Department of Journalism and Philology of the FPSC Faculty of Sumy State University, took part in the conference "Standing Together: Development of Media Literacy in Ukraine".

On October 17, 2024, Natalia Ponomarenko, a lecturer at the Department of Journalism and Philology of the Faculty of FPSC of Sumy State University, at the invitation of the Department of Youth and Sports of the Sumy Regional State Administration, held an anti-fake intellectual game “Nota Yenota” for young leaders, activists and representatives of public organizations from different territorial communities of Sumy region. The event was held as part of the regional youth forum “Free to Dream”.

A scheduled meeting of the Expert Council of Employers of Sumy State University of Specialty 061 «Journalism» was held under the chairmanship of the representative of the National Council in Sumy Oblast, Honored Journalist of Ukraine Larisa Yakubenko.

On September 24, a cycle of professional classes with representatives of the media industry “stuDIO PROFi” began for the students of the Department of Journalism and Philology of the FРSС of Sumy State University.

The traditional Freshers’ Day was held at the Department of Journalism and Philology of the FРSС of Sumy State University. The event was held on September 10 and, as usual, was timed to the International Day of Solidarity of Journalists.
