The teaching staff of the Department of Journalism and Philology of the FРSС of Sumy State University began training at the “Journalism Teachers’ Academy”.

Volodymyr SADIVNYCHYI, the Head of the Department of Journalism and Philology, of FPSC, Sumy State University, and Master’s student Anna NAUMENKO worked at the conference “On the watch of social changes: challenges of the media sphere-2024”, organized by the School of Journalism and Communications of the Ukrainian Catholic University.

The work of the Winter School «Global Synergy through Collaborative Online International Learning» (COIL) of the Alliance of Ukrainian Universities (AUU), which includes the Ukrainian Catholic University, Sumy State University, Kyiv National University named after T. Shevchenko, Kyiv School, has ended in the city of Lviv of Economics, National University of Water Management and Nature Management, Dnipro Polytechnic.. The Department of Journalism and Philology of the FРSС of Sumy State University was represented by teacher Olena ISHCHENKO.

Students from the People’s Republic of China are completing their first semester of a master’s degree at the Department of Journalism and Philology of the FРSС of Sumy State University.

At the first meeting of the current year's department of journalism and philology of the FРSС Sumy State University, head Volodymyr SADIVNYCHIY reported on the work of the unit for the 2023 calendar year.

On the pages of the Ukrainian-American weekly «Nova  газета» (№2(717), January 10, 2024), Raisa Stoyan’s article “War through the eyes of the children of the Ukrainian-Russian border” about the festival “Mediaspace Leads to the Universe” is published.

The scientific achievements of the Department of journalism and philology of the FPSC Faculty of Sumy State University were replenished with the monograph of Anna CHERNYSH “Stepan Protsyuk’s prose and the development of psychoanalytic discourse in Ukrainian literature” (Sumy, publishing house of Sumy State University) at the end of 2023.

Volodymyr SADIVNYCHYI, Head of the Department of Journalism and Philology of the FPSC Sumy State University, took part in the panel discussion “Artificial Intelligence, VR, AR in Higher Journalism Education: Opportunities and Risks”, which took place during the international conference “Journalism Education and Innovation. What opportunities exist?”. The Ukrainian Institute of Media and Communications organized the event within the project “Academy of Journalism Teachers” in partnership with Deutsche Welle Akademie.

Maryna SADIVNYCHA, an assistant at the Department of Journalism and Philology of the FРSС of Sumy State University, took part in an international internship in the Czech Republic under the program “Training of young journalists and the specifics of the work of regional media in the Czech Republic and Ukraine”.

The lecturers of the Department of Journalism and Philology of the FРSC of Sumy State University (Tetyana Kovalova, Volodymyr Sadivnychyi, Inna Sypchenko, Olena Sushkova) took part in the work of the All-Ukrainian Scientific and Practical Conference “Ukrainian Journalism in the Global Information and Communication Context: Achievements and Prospects”, which took place on 24-25 November in Kyiv. The event was organized by the Department of History of Journalism of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Journalism of Taras Shevchenko KNU, celebrating its 70th anniversary this year. Therefore, the conference was dedicated to congratulating the birthday department.

Students, graduate students, teachers of the Department of Journalism and Philology of the FРSC of Sumy State University took part in the work of the round table “Information Policy and Border Security: Effectiveness and Challenges". The event brought together representatives of the media community, the authorities and the public of the Sumy region. The staff of the department became not only an active participant, but also a co-organizer together with the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU), its Sumy regional branch.

The 9th International Journalist Safety Conference “Call to Action: Improving Safety in Environmental Journalism for a Better Future” was held in Oslo, Norway. The speaker at the forum was Alla YAROVA, associate professor of the Department of Journalism and Philology of the FРSС of Sumy State University.
