The results of the projects of the participants of the online course “Data journalism for teachers and novice journalists”, which was implemented by the Association for International Affairs together with Texty.org.ua, were summarized. The project “Foreign Students Hostages of Enemy Propaganda” by the team of the Department of Journalism and Philology of the FРSС of Sumy State University was chosen as the WINNER.

Yurіy Kotlyar, a graduate of the Department of Journalism and Philology of the FРSС of Sumy State University (educational program “Advertising and Public Relations”), was awarded the Diploma of the Mayor of Sumy.

Bohdan SYNCHAK, a graduate student of the Department of Journalism and Philology of the FРSC of Sumy State University, defended his thesis for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in the field of knowledge 06 “Journalism” in the specialty 061 “Journalism”. The work was carried out under the supervision of Doctor of Sciences, Professor Volodymyr Sadivnychіy. The topic is “Deontology of journalistic activity: challenges, dilemmas, trends”.

The library of the department of journalism and philology of the FРSС of Sumy State University has been replenished with a new electronic study guide “How to write advertising and PR-texts”, which is primarily intended for students of the educational and professional program “Advertising and public relations”.

On May 25-26, the 2nd Scientific and practical conference of students, graduate students and young scientists “Modern Mass Communication Space: History, Realities, Prospects” was held online at the Department of Journalism and Philology of the FРSС of Sumy State University.
The participants of the conference listened with great attention to the reports made at the plenary session. The head of the Department of Journalism and Philology, Professor Volodymyr Sadivnychiy spoke on the topic: “Journalism is mass, mass or for the masses. What to choose for research?”.

The 68th International Conference “Communication Automation and Automated Media: Challenges and Media Studies” was held in Bremen (Germany) from May 18 to 20. Alla Yarova, associate professor of the department of journalism and philology of the FРSС Sumy State University, presented a report devoted to the problem of Russian disinformation in Germany, and also appealed to the European scientific community to initiate joint research that would dispel the Russian imperial grand narrative.

The project “Improving the quality of training of young journalists in Ukraine” for teachers of journalism faculties and departments, students and regional journalists in Ukraine from the Association for International Affairs of the Czech Republic has ended.

A team of students from the Department of Journalism and Philology of the FРSС of Sumy State University won the 1st place at the All-Ukrainian Student Olympiad “Social Engineering: Ways and Mechanisms of Protection”.

On April 27, the Department of Journalism and Philology of the FРSС of Sumy State University met with representatives of the National Council of Ukraine on Television and Radio Broadcasting headed by Ukrainian journalist and TV presenter Olga Gerasimyuk.

Alla Yarova, associate professor of the department of journalism and philology of the FРSС of Sumy State University, media expert of the Pylyp Orlyk Institute of Democracy, took part in the presentation and discussion of the research of the Lviv Media Forum “Networks” team on countering the narratives of russian propaganda about Ukraine in Western media.

A new master’s program in specialty 061 “Journalism” is being introduced at Sumy State University.
