On a wonderful autumn day, September 21, the Department of Journalism and Philology of the FPCS Sumy State University gathered its first-year students, growing mass media professionals, who from now on became the ZHT-21 group. There were many reasons for the meeting, but the most important one was the freshman's cathedral day.

The students were looking forward to this event, because it is the first opportunity to see their classmates, supervisor and teachers in person, and not on the screens of their laptops. Unfortunately, due to the difficult situation in the country, not everyone was able to attend the event, but modern technologies of the university did not leave anyone behind, and those who are far away joined online and watched everything that happened.

The guests came to the event: graduates of previous years, Oleksandra Sysa, 2011 graduate, currently an employee of the press service of the Sumy Regional Territorial Center of Completion and Social Support; Oleksandr Bondarenko is the head of the press service of the operational tactical group "Sumy". They welcomed the freshmen and shared important information and their experiences that are really useful for students.

Svitlana Halimonenko, a graduate of 2011, and currently an officer of the public relations service of the "North" operational command, unfortunately could not be present at this event live, - service! But she recorded a video message with very apt words that inspired young people.

Anatoliy Serdyuk, an experienced fourth-year student, also talked with the new students. He asked the question first. But the first-year students had prepared their anonymous questions in advance, so Anatoly, the guests, and the teachers had to answer them.

Wishes and instructions were expressed to the first-year students by the dean of the Faculty of FPCS Olena Sushkova, teachers and employees of the department Yaroslav Yanenko, Alla Fedorina, Olena Bondarenko, Raisa Stoyan, Maryna Sadivnycha.

In the hall, primarily thanks to the moderation of the head of the department, Volodymyr Sadivnychy, there was a light, cheerful and pleasant atmosphere. Probably the most interesting and at the same time the most difficult task that the freshmen received was to write a letter to themselves, the graduate of 2026. After writing wishes for the future, the letters were given to the curator Olena Bondarenko to read them already during the reception of bachelor's diplomas.

The final part of the freshman's day was a joint photo session and a long-awaited tour of the university. Students were impressed by the modernly equipped TV and radio studios, multimedia offices and computer classes of the department, the scale of the university library and, at first glance, long corridors.

The freshmen were satisfied and rushed home to share new experiences. After all, they finally saw the beginning from which #mediaspace_leads_to_the_universe.
