At the Department of Journalism and Philology, the last, final stage of the defense of Master's works took place. From now on, there are more graduates.

 

On February 1, the registration for the EIE began. This event determines the vocational guidance work of the department since this year the conditions of the admission to the bachelor's degree course by the brief term have changed. Compared to the previous year, applicants at admission to the 2nd-3rd courses submit not one, but two EIE certificates. Therefore, future entrants must decide on a place of study by March 5.

 

The results of the traditional annual competition "The best teacher through the eyes of students" have been summarized. According to the survey results, Yaroslav Yanenko (Ph.D. in sociol. sciences, assist. professor) and Tatyana Kovaleva, (Ph.D. in social comm., assist. professor) were recognized as the best teachers of the 2019-2020 academic year.

 

Video essay in the context of author's TV journalism, caption video, and other new popular formats, why "infotainment" reigns in the info space, as evidenced by the content analysis of corporate sites – these are only some topics researched and offered to the general public by this year's graduates of the master’s degree in the specialty "Journalism". Future advertisers mainly presented projects of company brand books – the development of style, logo, a slogan from "A" to "I".

The trainings "Media literacy in the regions of Ukraine" have come to an end at the Department of Journalism and Philology. The study was supported by "Interlink Academy" (Germany, Hamburg) and "MediaKompas" (Sumy).

 

On November 26, the Coordination Online Meeting of the Team of Outreach Media Literacy Courses was held. The meeting, organized by the Department of Journalism and Philology of SSU, was held within the framework of the tasks of the international grant project DESTIN "Journalistic Education for Democracy in Ukraine: Development of Standards, Integrity, and Professionalism".

 

Physical exercises remotely, i.e. online... It turns out it's quite possible. It is only necessary to join the video tutorials of student-athletes of SSU. The Department of Journalism and Philology helps to make such meetings.

 

What should a beautiful reportage be, what should "ingredients" of creative TV cuisine pay attention to, about video mastery, arthouse, the influence of painting and literature on cinema – these are only some things among many discussed during the two-hour master class from the author of the film "The Wayfarers", the Palme d'Or winner, documentary filmmaker Igor Strembitsky.

 

Today, on November 9, the Day of Ukrainian Writing and Language, the 20th Radio Dictation of National Unity took place –a jubilee for Ukraine. Traditionally, students of the Department of Journalism and Philology also joined the writing.

The trainings of the first stage "Media literacy in the regions of Ukraine", which were held on the basis of the Department of Journalism and Philology of the IFSC Faculty of SSU with the support of "Interlink Academy" (Germany, Hamburg) and NGO "MediaKompas" (Sumy), finished.

 

On the basis of the Department of Journalism and Philology of the FFSC Faculty of SSU, a meeting of students-journalists with a Ukrainian director, cameraman and screenwriter Igor Strembitsky took place.

 

Within the framework of the international project DESTIN, the Department of Journalism and Philology of SSU develops online courses on media literacy for the general public. The working project group discussed the methodology of preparation and structure of pilot outreach courses, the target audience of which is students, pupils, teachers, and the general public. It is envisaged that the online project will contain educational media materials from Ukrainian universities – participants of the program DESTIN.
