The VIII Gender Media School has finished its work in Kyiv. Teachers of the specialty “Journalism”  from different regions of Ukraine are invited to participate in it. The Department of Journalism and Philology of the Faculty of  FPSC SSU was represented by associate professors Olena Sushkova, Inna Sypchenko, Inna Gavrilyuk and assistant lecturer Yulia Koval.

Freshmen of the Department of Journalism and Philology of the Faculty FPSC, SSU attended the press conference of the Rector of the University Vasyl Karpusha and the Head of the Academic Council Anatolii Vasyliev. The topic of the meeting – positions in the updated ranking of the World University Rankings from the international agency in the field of higher education Times Higher Education (THE).

On September 8th , Freshman’s Day was held at the Department of Journalism and Philology of the Faculty FPSC, SSU. It is symbolic that it was celebrated on the International Day of Journalists’ Solidarity (international day of solidarity for journalists, correspondents and reporters). 

The summer season of 2021 turned out to be surprisingly busy for teachers of the Department of Journalism and Philology of the Faculty of IFSK SSU: almost all of them took part in trainings, conferences, seminars, advanced training courses and more.

Celebrations in honor of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Ukrainian poet and prose writer, journalist, Ukrainian diaspora activist Leonid Poltava (Parkhomovych) took place on August 27 in Romny. The Department of Journalism and Philology of the Faculty of FPSC SSU took an active part in the preparation of these events.

The National Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education has issued a “Certificate of Accreditation of the Educational Program”. The document confirms that the educational and scientific program in journalism operating at Sumy State University is accredited with the definition of “EXAMPLE”.

Symonenko’s words in the title fully reveal the atmosphere of awarding diplomas to bachelors at the Department of Journalism and Philology, Faculty of  FPSC SSU on the 1st of July 2021.

The lecturers of the Department of Journalism and Philology have prepared a pilot project of the outreach media literacy courses within the framework of the work package "Outreach Media Literacy Courses" of the international grant program DESTIN "Journalistic Education for Democracy in Ukraine: Development of Standards, Integrity, and Professionalism" (the national project Erasmus+ KA2).

Students of the Department of Journalism and Philology decently presented SSU in the All-Ukrainian competition of student scientific works on the Ukrainian language, literature (with the methods of teaching), which was held on the basis of Andriy Malyshko Faculty of Ukrainian Philology and Literary Creativity of M. Drahomanov. 

The applicants for the scientific degree of Doctor of Philosophy of 2019 of the specialty 061 "Journalism" of the FFSC Faculty of SSU have completed the pedagogical practice for professional purposes. 

A scheduled meeting of the Expert Council of Employers of Sumy State University in the specialty 061 "Journalism" was held. The dialogue between scientists and representatives of the media industry continues constantly, this time it had a continuation in an online format. 

The final scientific and practical conference of the second round of the All-Ukrainian competition of student scientific works in the specialty "Sociology" took place in Uzhhorod National University. Sumy State University was represented in the competition committee by Candidate of Sociological Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Journalism and Philology Yaroslav Yanenko.
