Students from the People’s Republic of China are completing their first semester of a master’s degree at the Department of Journalism and Philology of the FРSС of Sumy State University.

Master’s studies in journalism for students from the Celestial Empire are conducted in a foreign language, and to facilitate the process of integration, Chinese students are given the opportunity to take intensive Ukrainian language courses in parallel with the study of the main program disciplines.

Teachers who are lucky enough to work with the Chinese equally express their admiration for the students' creativity and responsibility.

– Working with foreign students is an incredibly useful experience. Much is impressive in interaction with them: respect for the teacher, responsibility in the preparation of practical tasks; genuine interest in journalism. I hope that our cooperation will bring productive results, – says Anna CHERNYSH, a senior lecturer at the Department of Journalism and Philology.

Very positive impressions from working with students from China. It should be noted that all students of the group diligently prepare for the classes, participate in the discussion, ask questions, – comments on the work with foreign students, assistant of the department Maryna SADIVNYCHA.

Nataliya PYLYPENKO-FRITSAK, a teacher of the Department of Language Training for Foreign Citizens of the FРSС of Sumy State University, who teaches Ukrainian to Chinese students, says that this subject is not easy for current students, as Ukrainian and Chinese belong to different language systems. But the students are determined for daily painstaking work, thoughtful completion of tasks, active creative thinking.

And here is what the Chinese students themselves think about studying at the Department of Journalism and Philology of the FРSС of Sumy State University:

– First of all, I was very attracted by the quality of teaching and the academic atmosphere of Sumy State University. The teachers are amazingly knowledgeable and talented, and every day is full of challenges and surprises. For me, studying in Sumy is like a fantastic trip! It's like entering a new world full of wisdom and creativity. I believe that the experience of studying at the Department of Journalism and Philology of the FРSС of Sumy State University will be an unforgettable journey for me, will give me the opportunity to expand my international outlook and intercultural communication skills, and build a solid foundation for future academic and career development, – says student Li Ying.

Student Hu Yawei is convinced: “The Master’s program ‘Journalism’ at Sumy State University has a high academic reputation and a team of experienced, professional and respected teachers who are able to provide students with quality education and training”.

– Working with foreign applicants studying journalism in Sumy is our first experience and a big challenge. We prepared for this, we accepted this challenge, we are working successfully. The professionalism of the teaching staff of the department inspires hope for the successful implementation of international journalism education in Sumy, – emphasizes Volodymyr SADIVNYCHYI, head of the Department of Journalism and Philology of the Faculty of IFSK of Sumy State University.
