The lecturers of the Department of Journalism and Philology of the FРSC of Sumy State University (Tetyana Kovalova, Volodymyr Sadivnychyi, Inna Sypchenko, Olena Sushkova) took part in the work of the All-Ukrainian Scientific and Practical Conference “Ukrainian Journalism in the Global Information and Communication Context: Achievements and Prospects”, which took place on 24-25 November in Kyiv. The event was organized by the Department of History of Journalism of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Journalism of Taras Shevchenko KNU, celebrating its 70th anniversary this year. Therefore, the conference was dedicated to congratulating the birthday department.

The rector of the Taras Shevchenko KNU Volodymyr Bugrov, the director of the National Institute of Journalism Volodymyr Rizun, his deputies Yevgen Tsymbalenko and Vitaly Korneev, the dean of the Faculty of Philology of Uzhgorod University Yury Bidzilya, the head of the Department of Media Communications of the Ukrainian Academy of Printing Nadiya Zelinska, the professor of Halytskyi spoke with greetings and reports at the plenary session. Yuriy Finkler of Vyacheslav Chornovol Vocational College and others. On behalf of Sumy State University, the dean of the FРSC, Olena Sushkova, and the head of the Department of Journalism and Philology, Volodymyr Sadivnychyi, gave a welcome speech.

During the sectional meetings, the conference participants had the opportunity to discuss, in particular, the problematic issues of journalism education in Ukraine: from history to the present; updating the historical experience of Ukrainian and foreign journalism; vectors of interaction of journalism, advertising, PR and publishing; to pay attention to the problems of language as a sign of identity and a means of communication, as well as the specifics of media work in war conditions. The International Round Table “Gender: Media Discourse” was also held during the conference.

– It is nice that the scientific trips continue, that we have the opportunity to exchange urgent thoughts about the media sphere with colleagues from all over Ukraine, and it was even nicer to congratulate the staff of the Department of History of Journalism on their anniversary, – Volodymyr Sadivnychyi commented on the event.
