The lecturers of the Department of Journalism and Philology of the FРSC of Sumy State University (Tetyana Kovalova, Volodymyr Sadivnychyi, Inna Sypchenko, Olena Sushkova) took part in the work of the All-Ukrainian Scientific and Practical Conference “Ukrainian Journalism in the Global Information and Communication Context: Achievements and Prospects”, which took place on 24-25 November in Kyiv. The event was organized by the Department of History of Journalism of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Journalism of Taras Shevchenko KNU, celebrating its 70th anniversary this year. Therefore, the conference was dedicated to congratulating the birthday department.

Students, graduate students, teachers of the Department of Journalism and Philology of the FРSC of Sumy State University took part in the work of the round table “Information Policy and Border Security: Effectiveness and Challenges". The event brought together representatives of the media community, the authorities and the public of the Sumy region. The staff of the department became not only an active participant, but also a co-organizer together with the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU), its Sumy regional branch.

The 9th International Journalist Safety Conference “Call to Action: Improving Safety in Environmental Journalism for a Better Future” was held in Oslo, Norway. The speaker at the forum was Alla YAROVA, associate professor of the Department of Journalism and Philology of the FРSС of Sumy State University.

At the Department of Journalism and Philology of the FРSС of Sumy State University, another virtual academic mobility project was launched, which is being implemented thanks to an agreement between Sumy State University and Polytechnic Colleges of Camarines Sur (Nabua, Philippines). 89 foreign students and 43 of our 061 Journalism graduates are taking part in the program.

We are all witnesses of genocide – the illegal full-scale invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation. The socially important mission of recording the truth about this terrible war is carried out by the volunteer media project “Svidok” (Svidok.org). Content and communications director Olena Kuk told students and teachers of the Department of Journalism and Philology of the FРSC Sumy State University about its activities.

On November 1, 2023, the Department of Journalism and Philology of the FРSС hosted students who visited Sumy State University for an open day.

Olena Sushkova and Alla Yarova, assistant professors of the department of journalism and philology of the FРSС of Sumy State University, took part in the work of the twenty-fourth Summer School “Language, Communication and Identity of the Danube Region”, which just ended in the city of Ulm (Germany).

The teachers of the Department of Journalism and Philology of the FРSC Sumy State University Olena Bondarenko, Olena Ishchenko, Tetyana Kovalova, Alla Fedorуna and Inna Gavrylyuk took part in the webinar “Interactive forms and methods in the process of teaching journalism disciplines”, which was held by the Academy of the Ukrainian Press with the support of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom.

On October 3, Olena Ishchenko, an assistant at the Department of Journalism and Philology of the FРSС of Sumy State University, took part in the digital contact seminar for Swedish and Ukrainian higher education institutions “Swedish-Ukrainian Contact Seminar 2023 – a digital conference on education and research”.

On September 26, 2023, in the Congress Center of Sumy State University, the ceremonial presentation of scholarships named after the head of the Sumy Regional State Administration took place. Anna Oropai, a student of the department of journalism and philology of the FРSС of Sumy State University, is among the awardees, who is studying at the "Advertising and Public Relations".

On September 22, 2023, the webinar “Ensuring the quality of educational programs in the context of European integration: environmentalization, recognition, digitalization, inclusion” was held, organized by the National Erasmus+ office in Ukraine together with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. Volodymyr Sadivnychiy, head of the Department of Journalism and Philology of the FРSС of Sumy State University, took part in it.

During June 2023, teachers, graduate students and students of the Department of Journalism and Philology of the FРSC of Sumy State University studied the course “Fake News, Fake Science and Critical Thinking: What should I believe?” at the International Summer School of the University of Liverpool. The project was implemented within the framework of the cooperation agreement of Sumy State University with a sister university from Great Britain.
