On August 4, the Ukraine Global Faculty international educational platform hosted an online lecture by the director of education at Coursetune, senior researcher of the Academy of Higher Education, founder of The Grad Academy, Jonathan Cisco – "Introduction to the use of quantitative methods in research in the United States." The initiative was implemented thanks to the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine with the grant support of the Ukrainian Startup Fund. The event was attended by Olena Ishchenko, an assistant at the Department of Journalism and Philology of the FРSС of Sumy State University.

Jonathan Cisko's research focuses on literacy practices in higher education, particularly the demystification of complex concepts across disciplines. The speaker focused on the disclosure of the concept of "quantitative research methods", noting that they got their name due to their focus on obtaining quantitative information about a large number of research objects. He also emphasized that quantitative methods are used to obtain accurate, statistically reliable data. In science, they are the most widely used, as their use makes it possible to effectively distribute research results and reach many respondents.

– Jonathan Cisko's lecture was informative, – Olena Ishchenko shared her opinion. – The speaker spoke clearly and convincingly about the current problems of the modern scientific space. It was interesting to hear about the classification of quantitative methods (for example, content analysis, sociological observation, sociological experiment, identification of expert evaluations, etc.), their specificity and perspectives of use. I consider such activities extremely useful for young scientists.

Studying the experience of foreign scientists and actively implementing the acquired knowledge in practice is an important component of the professional self-improvement of male and female teachers of the Department of Journalism and Philology of the FРSС of Sumy State University.
