The results of the projects of the participants of the online course “Data journalism for teachers and novice journalists”, which was implemented by the Association for International Affairs together with Texty.org.ua, were summarized. The project “Foreign Students Hostages of Enemy Propaganda” by the team of the Department of Journalism and Philology of the FРSС of Sumy State University was chosen as the WINNER.

During April-June, associate professor of our department Tetyana Kovalоva, assistant Maryna Sadivnycha, students Zakhar Yuvko and Anastasia Kyzim participated in the training course “Data journalism for teachers and novice journalists”. The course consisted of several parts - online lectures by practicing journalists, trainings, workshops, master classes. The main topic of the course is working with data related to the war in Ukraine.

The result of effective work was the preparation and presentation of an author’s media project, the creation of which was based on work with data search, open data processing, and visualization.

The theme of the project “Foreign students held hostage by enemy propaganda” was chosen by our team not by chance, because the stay of students from other countries in February-March 2022 in the besieged Sumy and their evacuation by the efforts of the Sumy State University was in the center of information attention and became an example of the speculations of the terrorist state.

Texty.org.ua lecturers chose the three best projects from those that were presented. Among the winners is the work of teachers and students of the Department of Journalism and Philology of the FРSC of Sumy State University.

We congratulate the team on the victory and emphasize that #media_space_leads_to_the_universe!
