Scientists of the Department of Journalism and Philology of the FРSС of Sumy State University Iryna Zhуlenko, Olena Ishchenko, Inna Gavrуlіuk and Tetyana Kovalova were among the authors of the international monograph “Ensuring Standards of Quality of Life in a Turbulent World” (Opole, Poland).

The materials prepared by our researchers, which made up different sections of the monograph, touched on many aspects of the humanitarian and socio-communication spheres.

For example, lecturer Olena Ishchenko used the material of modern Ukrainian literature (M. Dochynets, S. Zhadan) to investigate the artistic manifestation of the concept of “quality of life” using an interdisciplinary approach (“Literature and the ‘quality of life’ phenomenon: features of interaction”).

A special type of media practice, which is becoming more and more popular in Ukrainian society, was researched by assistant professors Tetyana Kovalоva and Inna Havryliuk. They emphasized that social journalism can be presented both on social network platforms and in new media – professional internet publications (“Social journalism in the media space of Ukraine”).

Professor Iryna Zhуlenko devoted her research to literary criticism as a component of the emigration media space of the interwar twentieth century. Using the example of the magazine “Our Culture” (published in 1935-1937 in Warsaw), she found out that literary and critical articles revealed the main trends in the development of modern literature, touching both on the processes taking place in Soviet Ukraine and beyond . The conclusion is relevant even for today, that for all three years of its existence, the magazine “Our Culture” adhered to the principle of Ukrainian-centricity, while at the same time approaching the European level and uniting the nation (“Literary criticism as a component of the emigration media space of the twenty years of the interwar period (on the example of the magazine “Our Culture”, Warsaw, 1935-1937).

Publication in an international monograph is another recognition of the appropriate level of research by scientists of the Department of Journalism and Philology of the FРSС of Sumy State University.
