The focus of the recent meeting of the staff of the Department of Journalism and Philology FPCS SSU.

The main indicators of what has been done in 2021 were revealed in his report by the head of the department Volodymyr Sadivnychy. At the beginning, he emphasized that summing up is a great opportunity for everyone to look at themselves, their colleagues and the business we serve. And immediately urged to look with an analytical look, and by no means lateral, not lateral or evaluative.

To give the pros and cons, he started with what the department can be proud of. The list, by the way, turned out to be worthy: deepening the practical component of the educational process and wider involvement of stakeholders; accreditation of the educational and scientific program of the third level (postgraduate study) with the definition of “exemplary”; implementation of a number of economic contract, state budget and grant research topics; publication of textbooks, monographs, publication of articles in publications that are accounted for by the Scopus / WOS database; participation in the grant program of the European Union ERASMUS + “DESTIN” and the implementation of individual international grants; defense of dissertations and obtaining Level B2 certificates by teachers; copyright registration; victories of students in creative and scientific competitions… And so on many more points.

The speaker also mentioned the shortcomings – small and large (he called the latter “the biggest failures of the year”). And although these failures were а drop in the ocean (and are they failures?), They were the ones that were most emphasized: not to criticize, but to take them into account and correct them in the future.

In the current plans for the current year, the leading place is occupied by improving the training of students in all educational programs and reviewing curricula; revolutionization of master’s training of future mass media specialists; deepening the scientific work of teachers and students; defense of the dissertations of the Doctor of Philosophy in the specialty “Journalism”… That is, making every effort to implement the basic vision of training journalists in Sumy –#mediaspace_leads_to_the_universe.

The meeting was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Journalism and Philology  FPCS SSU Olena Sushkova, Deputy Deans Svitlana Baranova, Alla Krasulya, Marina Nabok, Olena Medvid.

– We summed up the results and outlined plans, we translated the feeling of victory into conviction and now, like a fish that escaped from the liver, we dive into work again, – said Volodymyr Sadivnychy. And summed up –Thank you all for your high service!
