Anastasia Dedova and Zoreslava Shedenko, students of the Department of Journalism and Philology FPCS, won the competition of journalistic investigations “Use of data in the fight against manipulation and misinformation”.

The competition was held for students studying journalism in the Free Economic Zone of Ukraine. The works were evaluated by data journalism specialists and investigative journalists from “Our Money. Lviv” and Texty.org.ua. Recently, the results were announced, which showed that among the winners is the material of Anastasia Dedova and Zoreslava Shedenko “Reconstruction of Rusov’s house in Odessa”.

Within the framework of the project, associate professors of the department Tetyana Kovalyova conducted trainings for student journalists. The participants were able to apply their knowledge of working on investigative journalism based on data journalism methods, fact-checking methods, open data from state registers, cadastres, etc.

Diana Zubar (“Admission campaign 2019-2020: which freelancers are chosen by entrants”), Vladislava Kritska and Karina Chornobuk, students-journalists of SSU, also presented their works at the competition (“One Actor’s Theater, or How the Theater Square in Sumy was Reconstructed”).

The competition was held within the project “Use of data in the fight against manipulation and misinformation”, which is implemented by the Czech NGO Association for International Affairs (AMO) in cooperation with “Internews-Ukraine” and texty.org.ua.

In general, winning this competition is a good tradition of students of the Department of Journalism and Philology, Faculty of IFSK SSU. No wonder —  #Mediaspace_leads_to_the_universe .
