On November 7, 2022, students, postgraduate students and teachers of four Ukrainian universities met to discuss the issue of academic integrity in the Ukrainian scientific and educational space.

Among the participants of the "round table" were scientists, teachers and students of journalism education from Sumy State University, Kyiv University named after Borys Grinchenko, Lviv National University named after Ivan Franko, Ternopil Pedagogical University named after Volodymyr Hnatyuk.

The purpose of the meeting is to outline the Ukrainian experience and generalize the European practice of observing academic integrity, as well as to determine the normative, legal and moral and ethical foundations of educational and scientific activity in the difficult times of war.

The speech of Associate Professor of Sumy State University, member of NAZYAVO (National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance), Artem Artyukhov, can be considered programmatic. In particular, he outlined the issue of academic integrity through the prism of teachers’ views, because, unfortunately, this phenomenon is widespread not only among young people and students. The speaker emphasized that the influence of "Sovietism" is still felt in the Ukrainian environment with its fear of being tabooed as a "snitch".

In the future, scientists and graduate students were given the opportunity to speak. Each participant could join the discussion with their thoughts and comments.

Finally, Olga Mitchuk, one of the main speakers of the "round table", noted that "Academic integrity is creating yourself among your own."

It is this principle that is professed at the Department of Journalism and Philology of the Faculty of FРSС of Sumy State University.
