Olena Ishchenko, lecturer of the Department of Journalism and Philology of the FPSC Sumy State University, took part in the open lecture of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAS) "Finding additional work for researchers – opportunities of the Polish labor market, also outside the science and technology sector."

The speaker of the event was Dr. Yustyna Malkuh-Svitalska, who has been working with European scientists since 2006 as an academic trainer and scientific manager. At the beginning of the event, she emphasized that in this difficult time for Ukrainian colleagues, the lecture will prepare for maintaining the effectiveness of professional activity, or for its changes caused by forced emigration due to hostilities.

The main topics brought up for discussion were current issues: career management, the study of the main trends of scientific employment in the EU, as well as in various sectors of the national and international labor market. Yustyna Malkuh-Svitalska provided valuable advice on the correct presentation of her skills, explained the basic rules for writing a high-quality CV and cover letter. Discussed which is better: a portfolio or a CV?

– I believe that the approach to professional self-presentation proposed by Yustyna Malkuh-Svitalska is concise, but effective: simplicity, attention to creating an image and the correct structure of the resume. I also want to note the friendly atmosphere of the gathering. The support and advice of foreign colleagues during the war is extremely important for every Ukrainian researcher, – Olena Ishchenko shared her impressions of the meeting.

We remind you that the active study and implementation of European experience to improve professional skills and self-improvement is a priority of the Department of Journalism and Philology of the Faculty of the FPSC Sumy State University.
