Students, postgraduate students and teachers of the Department of Journalism and Philology FPSC SSU, understanding the importance of information during the war, with its help bring the victory of Ukraine.

This is work in several directions. The most extensive is the preparation of visual materials: posters, photo frogs, memes. They are distributed on the pages of the department on social networks Facebook and Instagram. With such popular information methods, the authors respond to topics that have gone viral in the information space since the beginning of the attack on Ukraine.
The work of well-known propagandists, stories of firewood, sunflower seeds in pockets, Obolon gopniks, rashist information shit, tables in Ikea, blocking the sites of enemy agents, etc. were visualized.
In particular, in the form of a meme, Russian Minister Lavrov’s phrase that “ethnically oriented biological weapons are being created” in Ukraine is ridiculed. Phrases about the ethnic orientation of biological weapons were immediately commented on by archaeogenetics, virologists, molecular biologists, and genetic engineers from around the world. And they all stressed the futility of such allegations.
– The Russians themselves provide excellent material for ridiculing them at the level of bullying. I don’t know why, but our mass media didn’t make fun of “ethnically oriented weapons” mass, – the Head of Department Volodymyr Sadovnichy noted.
Famous meme characters and stories such as Pochekun, The Catastrophe Girl, Yao Ming, Doge the Inflated, Jean-Luc Picard, “Come on, Tell Me...”, “You Have a Parcel”, “The Three Most Important Words” and others. Not without cats, of course.
Student Julia Hoba (nickname Rodeleril), using footage from the TV series “The Walking Dead” and a survey of russians, showed how people imagined zombies before and what they really look like.
On March 9, on the occasion of the 208th anniversary of Taras Shevchenko’s birth, students and teachers of the department joined the nationwide action Shevchenko Front, preparing visual content and distributing it with the appropriate hashtag on social networks.
Student Diana Hrygorova developed several posters in response to current events and expressions of faith in victory. Her works “I believe in Ukraine!” Became the most popular in the info space and “We will not forgive!”. Belief in Ukraine is figuratively shown through the seeds from which sunflowers germinate. Features of perception gives the red color of the same, which has become legendary, seeds.
Associate professors Alla Fedorina, Alla Yarova and Volodymyr Sadivnychy prepared for the Pylyp Orlyk Institute for Democracy a monitoring review of the Sumy region’s media during the first days of russia war against Ukraine - from February 26 to March 10. 381 publications were studied. The topic of publications focused on two areas: coverage of hostilities – 28.5% of content, and informing citizens about life in wartime – almost 60% of publications. No material – with signs of panic, confusion, despair. Informing the mass media of the population has acquired a tendency to consult, announce, and notify, which is quite justified in the current situation, experts say.
In turn, philologist Alla Yarova on the air Суспільне: Суми suggested writing everything related to the aggressor country in lower case.
– And this is our will, and our desire to do so, – she stressed.
The initiative of the teachers of the Department of Journalism and Philology of the FPSC SSU to edit the texts of the public online encyclopedia Wikipedia seems interesting. Texts, of course, related to the armed forces of the invading country, their military actions. The team is aware that such corrections last for several hours, but hundreds of their information front fighters are distracted to remove such initiatives.
In addition, constant contact with the media, support of colleagues, writing comments for various media. Preparation of new educational materials…
