This was clarified by representatives of the Department of Journalism and Philology of the Faculty of FPSC SSU Doctor of Philology Iryna Zhilenko and PhD in Philology Olena Ishchenko and first-year students in an online meeting with Vladimir Dibrova, a famous writer, translator, literary critic.

The event was organized to present a new book by the researcher “With Fresh Eyes: Shevchenko for the Contemporary Reader”, which is dedicated to substantiating the relevance of the creative work of the well-known artist for Ukrainian and, above all, foreign recipients. Well-known literary critics, journalists and artists Vasyl Makhno, Maria Shuvalova, Oleksandr Boron, Maria Kinovych and others were speakers. The event was initiated by the Shevchenko Scientific Society, USA.

Revealing the secrets of his creative laboratory, Volodymyr Dibrova emphasized:

— Whether we like it or not, we make the writer an ideologue, and this can negatively affect Shevchenko’s perception.

That is why the author sought to present the cult figure as a simple and at the same time brilliant man. Did the researcher succeed in this?

Zhanna Martyschenko shared her impressions:

— What do we associate the work of Taras Shevchenko with? Apparently, with grief, serfdom, peasant themes and so on. These are all patterns imposed by the outdated school curriculum, which prevent us from fully understanding the value of the artist's work. Volodymyr Dibrova urges them to destroy them in his book, to look with a really “fresh eye” at the known facts.

Snizhanna Biloshapka admitted that after the meeting she had a desire to get acquainted with other works of the researcher.

— I also like that Volodymyr Dibrova actively involves young specialists. For example, the illustrator Maria Kinovich, who presented her modern vision of the images of Kobzar.

Zakhar Yuvko is convinced:

— “With Fresh Eyes: Shevchenko for the Contemporary Reader” is a good (and I hope successful) attempt to draw attention again to the “son of a chumak who became the ruler in the realm of the spirit”, to get acquainted with his work again and to revisit certain images. and fall to the dust on the shelves of your consciousness.

Lecturers of the Department of Journalism and Philology of the FPSC SSU Iryna Zhilenko and Olena Ishchenko are convinced, that are convinced that meetings with famous writers and scientists are necessary for students, because they form artistic tastes, give an idea of literature as a living process that is constantly updated, evolving. It is also a great opportunity for future journalists to get acquainted with the trends of modern literary criticism and improve their professional skills in dialogue with famous figures of science and art.

As we can see, our students are ready for a dialogue with Taras Shevchenko and researchers of his work, because they do not forget that #mediaspace_leads_to_the_universe.
