The conference dedicated to the 200th anniversary of Panteleimon Kulish's birthday, took place at the Department of Journalism and Philology of the Sumy State University. It was attended by scientists from Ukraine, Poland and Austria

The conference was opened at the Congress Center of the Sumy State University. The participants were greeted by the interim Head of Sumy Regional State Administration Irina Kupreychik, the Vice-Rector for Scientific Work of the Sumy State University Anatoliy Chornous, the Head of the Department of Journalism and Philology of the Sumy State University Olena Tkachenko. The greetings from the director of the Institute of Ukrainian Language of the National Academy of Science of Ukraine were read out by a member of the conference organizing committee Volodymyr Sadivnychy.

At the plenary session the conference participants listened to the reports of the most distinguished scientists of Ukraine and the world scientific community. The speeches were made by literary critics, linguists, journalists, philosophers - academicians of the National Academy of Science of Ukraine Mykola Zhulinsky and Mykola Sulima, professors, Dr. Michael Moser, Dr. Natalia Sidorenko, Dr. Vasyl Ivashkov, Oles Fedoruk (PhD), Vyacheslav Artyuh (PhD).

The plenary session was preceded by an exhibition of books of the author of the first Ukrainian historical novel.

The first day of the conference ended with a city tour, a visit to the Sumy Regional Museum and an exhibition dedicated to Panteleimon Kulish. The second day of the conference was equally intense.

The sectional sessions took place. The representatives of the different scientific fields presented their reports in the following sections: "Social Communications and Communication Science", "Theory and History of Ukrainian Literature", "Source Studies, Biography Studies, Folklore and Philosophical Aspects of Creativity", "Panteleimon Kulish and the Development of the Ukrainian Language. Translation".

Within the framework of the conference there was a scientific-practical seminar "Ukrainian journalism: scientific concepts, educational standards, world practices". The participants of the seminar discussed numerous topical issues of the media industry, in particular, the method of implementation of the higher education standard in the specialty "Journalism" in the educational process and implementation of the principles of European journalistic education in Ukraine. The event was moderated by the Academician of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Director of the Institute of Journalism of Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University Volodymyr Rizun and the Head of the Department of Journalism and Philology of the Sumy State University Olena Tkachenko.

At the end of the day took place the final meeting of the conference and presentation of the book of Oles Fedoruk “Roman of Kulish“ Chorna Rada”. History of the text».

At the third day of the conference the participants of the conference visited the small homeland of the great Panteleimon Kulish, the village of Voronezh, Shostka District, and also visited the Panteleimon Kulish Museum, which is situated at the Shostka Central City Library.
