Teachers and students of the Department of Journalism and Philology participated in a practical seminar for journalists specializing in children's TV journalism. The training was supported by Prix Jeunesse International (Munich) and the German channel for children KIKA. Co-organizer of the event was the NGO “Ukrainian-German Cultural Society of the City Chernivtsi”, which is situated at the Center “Gedankendach” of Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University

The Department of Journalism of the Sumy State University's was represented by lecturer Raisa Stoyan, fourth and second year students Victoria Gryshchenko and Zoreslava Shedenko. The head of the non-fiction program of the German broadcaster KIKA (a joint project of ARD and ZDF), Matthias Guff, offered an interesting and meaningful program for professional discussion, namely: viewing and discussing the best competitive videos of the Prix Jeunesse Foundation. Following the example of a jury of this prestigious International Festival for children and teens, participants were able to analyze work on such professional criteria as “target group”, “idea”, “scenario”, “realization” and, finally, create their own ranking of winners. This approach allowed the seminar participants to understand better the topics, formats of production of children's films, broadcasts not only on German channels but also on the channels of other public EU broadcasters, to understand the concept, the structure and the financing schemes of children's content primarily in Germany. The participants of the seminar were amazed by the variety of topics, how bravely the European television broadcasts convey important messages to their viewers. The workshop in Chernivtsi was supported by the Goethe-Institut in Ukraine.
