On the 8-12 of April the 19th All-Ukrainian Tournament of Young Journalists was held on the basis of Sumy Gymnasium No. 1. Each year, the strongest teams from different corners come to Sumy to compete for the recognition of the best young journalists. Traditionally, the Department of Journalism and Philology of the Sumy State University joined the tournament.

The 23 teams from different regions of Ukraine came to Sumy to compete for the title of the best mass media workers.

The team "Paradox"; (the team of the city of Kramatorsk, Donetsk region) has taken the first place. The second place was shared by the teams "Leader" (the team of the Moscow region of the City of Kharkiv), "4 vlada" (the team of Volyn region) and "152 Legion" (the team of Kharkiv gymnasium № 152 of the Kharkiv region).

The representatives of the Department of Journalism and Philology of the Sumy State University put the maximum efforts to the tournament. The jury comprised our experienced lecturers, graduate students and undergraduate students.

The pupils-journalists played games, participated in the calculation of the results, and published the newsletter "Trubadur". In addition, the department annually meets the participants of the tournament. This time, the lecturer of the department, the journalist-practitioner Raisa Stoyan, conducted a master class on the theme of "TV journalism: to see, to assess, to convey"; for the young mass media workers.
