“Hello! Can I order advertising from you? ” – with such a request addressed to the students-advertisers of the Department of Journalism and Philology FPCS SSU Director of LLC “Baby Stroller Factory “TRANS-BABY” Hryhorii Tymchenko. That’s how the acquaintance began.

The lesson was part of the study of the discipline “Radio Advertising” (content module of the discipline “TV and Radio Advertising”, teachers Inna Gavrilyuk, Raisa Stoyan). Meeting with a real advertiser was the final chord of the test of knowledge and skills.

Students were given the task “to sign a contract” with the customer, develop a brief, concept, script, record and edit a promotional audio clip.

Before ordering the information product, Hryhorii Tymchenko spent a lot of time presenting products – strollers, which are produced under the Polish franchise, answered in detail and comprehensively numerous questions. The requirements of the advertiser were quite strict and specific: time of 20 seconds, format – game, he stopped at other points that he would like to hear in the commercial.

During the final meeting, students presented their projects. After getting acquainted with the advertisement, Hryhorii Tymchenko described each of them. His verdict was unequivocal: he would  posted all audio commercials on radio stations and on his company’s online platforms.

Third-year students of the educational program “Advertising and Public Relations” shared their impressions of the following cooperation:

Yurii Kotlyar: “We always need to learn material not only from teachers, but also from those who may become our customers in the future. The meeting with businessman Hryhorii Tymchenko was very useful. I was able to understand in more detail what is required of you. The most difficult thing is practice, but without it it is impossible – this is how invaluable experience is gained”.

Anna Mytrofanova: “It is very interesting and useful to listen to reviews about the work from a real customer. I consider such a practical lesson to be a cool experience for myself”.

Tatiana Lungor: “Before, I didn’t understand how important it is to communicate with the customer while working on advertising. We always paint the image of a customer who will support any of your ideas, but in reality this is not the case. So the current practical lesson is very valuable!”

In general, the idea that classes for future media professionals should be primarily practice-oriented, for the Department of Journalism and Philology, FPCS SSU is a postulate of the initial process. An approach where theory is backed up by practice, and is the basis for training real professionals and an example of how #mediaspace_leads_to_the_universe.
