The panel was impressed by the high professional level of management, lecturers and students, and their shared view on journalism. They all emphasize the necessity for quality journalism that is truthful and reliable. This is becoming more important since we are living in a digital society that is threatened by a sea of unverified information and ungrounded opinions. Having such a common view within the team, and together with students and employers, is a valuable asset; it serves as an indispensable foundation for building academic programmes. The SSU team has developed good Bachelor and Master Programmes. SSU has obtained a strong position in the region, in the university and in the country. The panel looks back on the Peer Review Visit with great esteem of what the Department of Journalism of Sumy State University has achieved and with good memories of the interesting conversations with management, lecturers, students and employers.
