Kateryna Izotova, a master student of the Department of Journalism and Philology FPCS SSU (specialty “Journalism”) took the second place at the All-Ukrainian Shakespearean competition of student research and creative projects named after Vitaly Case. She presented her own creative work “Thoughts that flow through the centuries”.

The competition lasted from June to December 2021, and the final stage took place on the basis of Zaporizhia National University in online format. The purpose of the competition is to intensify six-volume studies in Ukraine, to popularize the artist’s heritage in the student environment, to identify talented young people, to stimulate their research and creative activity.

In general, 68 applicants from 21 free economic zones of 17 cities of Ukraine took part in the competition. 44 participants made it to the finals for public defense of works, where Kateryna Izotova won the second prize.

– This is my first participation in a Shakespearean competition, and I am pleased that the creative project has received rave reviews and high marks. I am very grateful to my scientific supervisor Yulia Koval, because with her support and help she decided to try her hand. Participation in such competitions is a good opportunity to develop creative skills, receive constructive criticism, – the student shared her impressions.

Creative projects were evaluated on such criteria as originality of creative idea, artistic and aesthetic level, correlation with modern Shakespearean discourse, logic of structuring description, its literacy and style, as well as suitability of the project for practical application in education and / or information space.

Scientific supervisor of the student, assistant of the department of journalism and philology FPCS SSU Yulia Koval noted:

– Kateryna Izotova’s competition work is a response to current topics, which William Shakespeare spoke about: how to live consciously, not to lose information and to pass on your aspirations to descendants? Questions that not everyone can answer today. Self-knowledge, the truth of life, the immortality of creativity – that is revealed in the work of the cult author, and thus finds its interpretation in our project. I am sincerely happy with the achievements of the master student and wish her inspiration for new achievements!
