The next issue of the TV project “Debate” was broadcast on UA: Sumy TV channel with the participation of representatives of the Department of Journalism and Philology, FPSC SSU. The topic of the issue is “Civic VS professional: what kind of journalism is the future?”.

Almost all participants of the program represented our department: expressing their own point of view, based on facts and their own experience, they discussed, agreed, argued, just waved. Volodymyr Sadivnychy, the head of the department, debated in the studio, representing the side of professional journalists. Associate Professor of Journalism and Philology, Honored Journalist of Ukraine Alla Fedorina, a graduate of Journalism, and now Honored Journalist of Ukraine, founder of the Positive News Agency Inna Bytyuk, current generation student Mila Lyashenko. Olena Burnos, a graduate journalist, worked in the studio and conducted the “Debate”.

The most important thing in the discussion is the participants’ attempt to find a significant difference and similarity between professional and citizen journalism, which is also called public and public journalism. Arguing their position, the parties spoke about truthfulness and salesmanship, professionalism and diligence, about “hard work” and work “on occasion”, efficiency and diligence, responsibility and impartiality, illiteracy and a high level of standardization and more.

In general, both sides of the discussion agreed that deeply problematic topics are not developed by journalists directly involved in the profession or by industry activists.

Commenting on the “Debate” poet, journalist, editor, teacher Vasyl Chubur said:

- The transfer is useful. Who is capable, he will understand from the speeches of opponents, who is who.

In general, the discussion, as predicted at the beginning of the program by the head of the Department of Journalism and Philology, FPSC SSU Volodymyr Sadivnychy, turned out to be “not negative, but supportive”. Its content and essence is really from the category where #mediaworld_leads_to_the_universe.
