The fourth national conference of National Media Talk took place on September 16 and 17 in Kyiv. The event brought together journalists, editors, scientists and media managers from all over the country. Representatives of the Department of Journalism and Philology of  SSU also took part in the forum: Honored Journalist of Ukraine Alla Fedorina and Candidate of Philological Sciences Alla Yarova.

The key topics of this year's discussions were: “Content for change. How can the media initiate positive social changes?”, “Laws that we need. How and why should the basic media legislation change?”, “Public: can the conversation be considered over?”,“Restoration or stagnation. What are the prospects for the media business after the pandemic?” The main direction is a productive conversation about the relations between the Ukrainian media and the authorities, about the role of the state in the development of the information space and the place of the media in shaping the identity of modern Ukrainians, as well as counteracting various manipulative influences.

 

Alla Yarova proposed for discussion the results of the research “Nominative and identification functions of the state language as a mechanism of human and national development in terms of combating manipulative influences”. This project is carried out by a group of scientists of the faculty of FPSC SSU within the scientific direction “Humanities and Arts”. Its purpose: based on the study of patterns between language functions, information influences, development of cultural, moral, intellectual values ​​of the individual and nation in the socio-cultural, economic, political context of North-Eastern Ukraine to develop a scientifically sound model of actualization of nominative and identification functions of the state language, comprehensive development of man and nation in view of the exceptional need to counteract manipulative influences.
