Students, postgraduates, and lecturers of the specialty "Journalism" of the FFSC Faculty of SSU actively joined the International Scientific Conference "Regional Journalism: Realities, Challenges, Prospects".

The conference was held on the basis of Volodymyr Gnatyuk Ternopil National Pedagogical University. Among the organizers, there were also the Faculty of Journalism, Information and Bibliology of the University of Warsaw and the editorial office of the newspaper "Vilne zhyttya plus".

Important issues of regional journalism were considered in nine directions. Representatives of Sumy State University worked in such sections as "Actual Challenges of Regional Journalism" (the postgraduate student Olena Asimova), "Theory and History of Social Communications" (the postgraduate Student Oksana Gedz, the student Anastasia Dedova), "Media ecology, media psychology, and media education" (the associate professor Tetiana Kovalova, the student Elizaveta Khorosheva), "Language in media space" (the Ph.D. student Viktoria Suchkova). At the plenary session, the associate professor Volodymyr Sadivnychiy delivered a report "From the afterlife: reports of "LPR" and "DPR” bodies as a source of information of local media”.

The feelings, as well as impressions about the work of the scientific journalism forum in Ternopil, its organization were shared by those who study at the Ph.D. program in journalism in SSU.

Viktoria Suchkova:

– I would like to thank the conference organizers for focusing on the problems of regional journalism. It was interesting to hear scientists who told about the peculiarities of media functioning in different parts of Ukraine. This is a valuable experience and a great opportunity to exchange views with people who have similar scientific interests.

 Elena Asimova:

 – I was impressed by the organization of the conference and the significant number of participants. It was very interesting to listen to the reports of others and get something new for myself. I gained experience in proclaiming the results of my own experience.

Oksana Gads:

– After the speech, it was pleasant to hear the feedback and wishes of the conference participants about my achievements. And of course, I agree with the opinion of everyone who worked in our section about the lack of personal communication at events of this level.

Our student journalist Anastasia Dedova did not miss the opportunity to speak emotionally:

– Usually before the Ternopil conference I participated only in those organized by SSU. However, this time I decided to slightly expand my "platform" for performances. For such a proposal, I am grateful to the associate professor Tatyana Kovalova, with whom the theses were prepared. In general, the conference is a really great opportunity for the approbation of a topic and the start of serious research. It is especially pleasant when during the performance people listen to you attentively, and then also provided with feedback, as it was this time.

Moreover, the participants from Sumy – students, postgraduates, lecturers – thank Ternopil colleagues for the organization, attentive and respectful attitude to everyone. "Everything leaves behind, and the pandemic will pass, but science will remain" – as the representatives of the Department of Journalism and Philology of the FFSC Faculty of SSU are convinced.
