Olena Ishchenko, lecturer of the Department of Journalism and Philology of the faculty of FPSC of Sumy State University, took part in the virtual course «English Academic Writing» within the framework of the project «Enhancement of The PhD Students Potential for Qualitative Research in Ukraine», which was financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic.

The project was implemented by the Czech University of Natural Sciences (Prague), Sumy State University, Dnipro State Agrarian and Economic University, Sumy National Agrarian University, Polis National University, Chernihiv Polytechnic National University. The leader of the course was Iryna Lyashenko, PhD in Рedagogу, Аssociate professor of the Department of Foreign Languages of Sumy State University.

The purpose of the virtual course «English Academic Writing» was to enrich the knowledge of young researchers about the specifics of the scientific style, to acquire practical skills in writing scientific papers, and to develop critical thinking. Training took place in an asynchronous format on the Canvas platform.

— I believe that such classes are useful for young scientists. They update the knowledge acquired during postgraduate studies and introduce innovative learning technologies. In the context of the process of integration of the Ukrainian system of higher education into the single European scientific and pedagogical space, the course «English Academic Writing» is relevant, because it introduces the European experience of writing scientific papers. I plan to actively involve the acquired knowledge while teaching the course «Academic Writing» at the Department of Journalism and Philology of Sumy State University, — Olena Ishchenko shared her impressions.
