SCIENCE DAY is a holiday in Ukraine, established since 1997, “in support of the initiative of famous scientists, scientific institutions and trade unions of Ukraine”. For the Department of Journalism and Philology of the Faculty of FPSC SSU it is not only the time of 24 hours a year on the third Saturday of May…

Among the significant scientific achievements is the fact of successful implementation of the research project of basic funding “Nominative and identification functions of the state language as a mechanism of human and national development in terms of combating manipulative influences.” In addition, in the field of “Humanities and Arts” the department develops the following areas: “Globalization challenges of the Ukrainian language and literature” (leaders – Iryna Zhylenko and Alla Yarova), “Humanitarian and socio-communicative component of information security of the individual” (leaders – Volodymyr Sadivnychy and Yaroslav Yanenko). The work gained will form the basis of the monograph, which is currently being prepared for publication by a team of scientists.

Last year was also marked by cooperation with the Scientific Research Foundation of Ukraine – a project in the field of journalism and communication “Specialized system of medical information and personal security in pandemics, crises and other social upheavals: the formation of an effective socio-communication model.” Teachers, graduate students and students took part in it.

The indicators for publishing the results of scientific work are also good. Over the past year, three authors have published monographs, published 11 articles in publications calculated by the Scopus / WOS database, 11 articles in professional journals, 3 articles in international journals, 55 – abstracts at conferences, including with students. In 2022, three publications of teachers and graduate students of the department in the Scopus database and two in the WOS have already been registered.

The cycle of the annual All-Ukrainian scientific-practical conference “Journalism Education in Ukraine: World Professional Standards” has been completed. It has been held since 2005. Published 13 collections of abstracts. Life goes on.

And from May 26, 2022 we begin a new cycle of scientific and practical conferences entitled “Modern mass communication space: history, realities, prospects”. First of all, we are counting on students, graduate students and young scientists – on those who create the future of the national science of communication.

So, as we can see, the Day of Science for the Department of Journalism and Philology of the Faculty of FPSC SSU is not just an astronomical day, it is a time of gaining knowledge, skills, experience and implementation of plans for life. This is a small but powerful era in which the team lives, knowing full well that without science nothing will come to hand. And if #mediaspace_leads_to_the_universe, the systematic path of scientific knowledge is far from secondary.
