On the Day of Ukrainian Writing and Language, Olena Ishchenko, Assistant Lecturer at the Department of Journalism and Philology of the Faculty of FPSC of SSU, gave a lecture “Language Culture as a Key to Successful Professional Communication”. The event for students of group ZhT-11 and employees of the private enterprise “Shopping Center “Kyiv” was held within the framework of the scientific topic “Ukrainian Language in the Modern Information Space”.

During the lecture, which took place online, they talked about the functioning of the Ukrainian language in the modern information space and its importance in the system of professional communication.

Olena Ishchenko, in particular, stressed that mass media workers, like no other, must have a professional command of the word and know all the intricacies of linguistics. Because they have the responsibility to popularize and strengthen the Ukrainian language as the dominant language in our country, as well as the mission to be examples of conscious Ukrainian.

For the guests of the event, employees of PE “Shopping Center “Kyiv”, the lecture was also quite relevant. It has repeatedly stated the importance of mastering the state language for professional communication and further career development. In particular, it was emphasized:

– In Ukraine, business communication is carried out in the state language. With its help, business negotiations are organized, contracts and claims are drawn up, reports are submitted, etc. If employees are fluent in the state language, then the need to receive services from translators disappears and there is an opportunity to save on this. Knowledge of the state language also creates the necessary conditions for self-presentation, promotes career growth, opens new business opportunities, helps in doing business.

For students of the Department of Journalism and Philology of the Faculty of FPSC SSU, for the staff of the “Shopping Center “Kyiv” this event was of paramount importance and contributed to an even more motivated study of the native language. After all, as Oles Honchar aptly noted, it is “not just a way of communication, but something more significant”.
