The applicants for the scientific degree of Doctor of Philosophy of 2019 of the specialty 061 "Journalism" of the FFSC Faculty of SSU have completed the pedagogical practice for professional purposes.

In four weeks, journalism researchers "tried on” different roles. They remembered student years, having attended lectures of their supervisors, they tested themselves as lecturers, having held their own open classes.

The practice has become a great opportunity for everyone to get advice, to gain skills, to test themselves in teaching. In online classes that trainees "visited", it was possible to "look at" and "listen to” the techniques of work with students. Thus, Liliya Dyagovchenko and Tetiana Mostipan "visited" classes in the discipline "Scientific practical work in the specialty" for masters of the first year of study of the specialty "Journalism". The lecturer – Doctor of Philology, Professor, Head of the Department of Journalism and Philology of the FFSC Faculty of SSU Olena Tkachenko.

Oleksandr Gorda and Victoria Suchkova "visited" lectures and practical classes in the discipline "Theory, Methodology, and Practice of Journalistic Creativity" (the lecturer - Doctor of Sciences in Social Communications, associate professor Volodymyr Sadivnychiy).

– The practice was really useful. We had to check the tasks performed by the students, even evaluate them, argue each assessment. A very exciting moment was an open lecture in front of the audience. Personally, I am grateful to my native department for the organization of practice and the opportunity to work fruitfully," says Victoria Suchkova.

In order to feel all the responsibility and versatility of teaching, postgraduate students have prepared their own open classes. It was a very useful experience for the trainees themselves, as well as for students who received a new mentor for one lesson. For first-year students, Tetiana Mostipan and Liliya Dyagovchenko held the training "The fact in a journalistic text". There everyone found out the basic rules of working with facts in journalism, learned to distinguish facts from judgments, to cover conflict situations in a balanced way, observing journalistic standards.

Iryna Virchenko, the lecturer at the Machine-Building Vocational College of SSU, demonstrated her own pedagogical techniques by inviting colleagues to the open practical training for students of the 3rd year of mechanical engineering college. The theme was "Elements of the educational publication apparatus. Features of the editorial analysis of a preface". The discipline – "Editing of educational and reference literature".

Lectures on "Theory, Methodology, and Practice of Journalistic Creativity" on the topic "Formation of public opinion. The role of mass media" and "User content, its use by journalists" were carried out by Olexandr Gorda and Victoria Suchkova.

In order to know all the fine points of the educational process at the university, postgraduate students got acquainted with educational programs, the principle of developing syllabuses of academic disciplines and methodical support.

- It is nice to note that postgraduate students have demonstrated innovative methods of conducting classes. Surprisingly successful was the connection with the audience. All this shows the high level of their professional training, - said Prof., Head of the Department of Journalism and Philology Olena Tkachenko.

Working on the topics of dissertation research, applicants for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy of journalistic direction accumulate a lot of interesting and useful knowledge. And it will depend on their pedagogical skills whether they will be able to transfer this knowledge to future specialists-journalists. Our postgraduate students will definitely be able to do this, especially after such a rich practice!
