How does mobile journalism work? How can smartphones, mobile apps, and social media accounts speed up news production time and reduce the distance to the audience? This was stated by Lizzie Powell (Bath Spa University, UK) during an online meeting with the lecturers of the specialty "Journalism", the managers of Ukrainian universities involved in the international grant project DESTIN "Journalism education for democracy in Ukraine: developing standards, integrity, and professionalism".

The event was attended by the Head of the Department of Journalism and Philology of SSU, Prof. Olena Tkachenko, the Deputy Head of the Department, Assoc. Prof. Olga Sydorenko, the post-graduate student Natalia Rudenko.

Mobile journalism significantly increases promptness, however, according to Lizzie Powell, quality should prevail over promptness. The journalist, who has 16 years of experience at BBC, stressed on the things worth remembering and following by all media workers: speed, accuracy, balance, and objectivity as inviolable key principles of journalism.

A British lecturer in film, TV, and digital production has demonstrated BBC products made with the help of a smartphone, including those that certify original mobile technologies.

At the end of the meeting, Lizzie Powell kindly answered the questions of her Ukrainian colleagues.
