Summer is a time not only for relaxation, but also for new changes and discoveries. Such changes and discoveries awaited the participants of the Summer School of Young Journalists, which took place at the Department of Journalism and Philology of the Sumy State University. Media Trainings is a joint project of the NGO Interlink Academy (Hamburg, Germany), the Sumy State University and the NGO MediaKompas (Sumy, Ukraine)

24 participants were selected by the project organizers. These are representatives of different regions of Ukraine – Poltava, Kyiv, Kharkiv, and, of course, Sumy. During the course of 10 days, summer students worked hard: they mastered the skills of writing strong texts, learnt to interview, worked with data, took photos and shot videos, learnt about journalistic ethics and standards, and eventually created their own projects. Besides, project participants traveled and talked to representatives of the media sphere. One of the days was devoted to a tour around the city of Sumy. The school participants learnt a lot about the history of the city. However, they did not just have a rest – they made the first professional photo reports. The participants of the school visited the affiliated branch of the Ukrainian Public Broadcasting Company "UA Sumy", where they learned about the peculiarities of the organization, the specifics of radio and TV broadcasting. Also, they communicated online with the editor and moderator of the program “Nashi Groshi” Denis Bihus. The successful completion of the training was evidenced by the projects created by the participants. The best, according to experts, was the work called "ProSEX", which was done by the creators in the form of an educational Telegram channel for teens. It should be mentioned, that the School of Young Journalists took place for the third time at the Department of Journalism and Philology of the Sumy State University.
