Second-year students of the Department of Journalism and Philology of the FРSС of Sumy State University held an educational meeting with Oleksandr Bondarenko, the head of the press service of the Sumy Regional Territorial Center for Staffing and Social Support.

The guest talked about the peculiarities of the work of a media person in the conditions of martial law, the interaction of the military and media representatives, the peculiarities of the work of the press service, and shared interesting stories from his professional activities.

According to Oleksandr Bondarenko, an important aspect in the work of a public relations specialist is a certain adventurism, especially when it comes to military service, because the work poses new challenges every day, one must understand how to find an opportunity to convey one's own information in the “information noise”.

The stakeholder also emphasized the importance of communication skills - the ability to establish contacts, communicate with people, correctly find and combine information. “He who owns communication owns the world”, the guest paraphrased a well-known saying. What was said, by the way, is in the core of the main guideline for the training of specialists at the Department of Journalism and Philology of the Faculty of IFSK Sumy State University: “Today, the one who professionally produces, processes, and distributes information OWNS THE WORLD”.

One of the important issues raised during the meeting was recommendations on what can and cannot be written to the media at the front. So, for example, in the dugout, you can ask military personnel questions about everyday life, interesting incidents and adventures. It is possible and necessary to write about what the soldier did before the service, what he is going to do after the war - these stories will contribute to the further reintegration of our defenders into civilian life.

Examples of the dissemination of such information are the project “100 questions to a defender” - a video challenge in which military personnel answer questions from small residents of the community, as well as “Together 4.5.0.”, a project aimed at the reintegration of military personnel into civilian life. In general, live communication with the military, presenting their human stories is very important.

The projects demonstrated by Oleksandr Bondarenko were of great interest to future mass media professionals:

- This is cool content, in my opinion. Everyone wants to know how the life of our defenders is arranged, how they cope with critical situations and how they chase the enemy after the Russian ship. It is also very interesting what the children ask the defenders about. Such videos cause sincere laughter, and sometimes tears, - student Anastasia Sabchuk shared her impressions of what she saw and heard.

Those seeking education are grateful to Oleksandr Bondarenko for an interesting story, comprehensive information on important aspects of military journalism and practical advice, confirmed by cases from experience.
