Anna Oropai and Zakhar Yuvko, students of the department of journalism and philology of the FРSС of Sumy State University, won prizes at the 10th International Student Olympiad “Ways and mechanisms of protecting the information space of Ukraine from harmful informational and psychological influences”.

The event took place on April 14 at the Kyiv National University of Civil Engineering and Architecture. Worked online.

17 university teams from different cities of Ukraine, as well as from Poland, Bulgaria, Iraq and Kazakhstan took part in the Olympiad. The participants were divided into 5 subgroups. Everyone defended their scientific work, after which they answered questions.

According to the score, Anna Oropai won the third place, Zakhar Yuvko – the second. Without hiding their emotions, the winners shared their impressions:

– It was an interesting experience, because we could see how the subjects of our study, for example, manipulation, were considered by other students in the context of their specialties. I liked the emphasis on the practical application of our findings and the perspective of these studies for Ukraine. I hope that we will be able to take into account the problems with information security of the past and be conscious and critical of various influences, because, as one of the representatives of the jury noted, the future is ours, – said Anna Oropai.

Emotions are extraordinary! Participation in the discussion, the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and apply it when considering the issue I really liked all this. The judges of our subgroup were balanced and pleasant people who asked good questions and provided constructive comments. Of course, I am happy about the victory, but first of all it was important for me to represent my university in a worthy way! noted Zakhar Yuvko.

Tetyana Kovalova, the academic supervisor of the students, associate professor of the Department of Journalism and Philology of Sumy State University, shared her thoughts and impressions:

The event turned out to be quite interesting there were many participants, including foreigners. I was pleasantly surprised by the high level of work, all participants presented interesting and informative presentations, confidently defended the prepared abstracts. That is why it is especially nice that our students presented their works worthily and won prizes.

Congratulations to the winners! With their participation and activity in the Olympics, they proved that we have the right path, which #Mediaspace_leads_to_the_universe.
