On April 13, students of the Department of Journalism and Philology of the FРSС of Sumy State University visited the Sumy District Administrative Court. Information about the structure and functions of the institution, the peculiarities of providing information and cooperation with the media was shared by the head of the sector of legal support and interaction with the mass media Iryna Fetisova and judge-speaker Nataliya Savytska.

According to the decree of the President of Ukraine, on January 1, 2005, the Sumy District Administrative Court was established in the system of administrative courts of Ukraine. He actually started his work in 2009. The institution consists of 6 structural subdivisions. Students got acquainted with the work of the archive, office, and courtroom.

Judge-speaker Nataliya Savytska noted that one of the most important conditions for building trust in judicial authorities is the coverage of their activities. Media representatives have the right to participate in any open meetings, but if a media person plans to film the meeting for further distribution of the content, he must obtain the appropriate permission to do so.

– Impressed by the professionalism of the people working in the court and the institution’s openness in providing information to visitors. It was interesting to hear about the conduct of court cases. I was also impressed by the presence of a children’s room in case a participant in the legal process has nowhere to leave his child, – said Dmytro Babich, a student of the “Advertising and Public Relations” educational program.

– Familiarity with the interaction of the media and judicial authorities has become especially relevant. The court employees conducted an interesting excursion and shared their experience of processing various cases, – said Taisia Kotlyar, a student of the “Journalism” educational program.

There were also plans to participate in a real court session, but it was canceled at the last moment due to the absence of one of the participants in the process. But judge Olena Osipova came to the students and told the guests about the peculiarities of her work and interesting cases from judicial practice.

Journalist students are grateful to the stakeholders from the Sumy District Administrative Court and are satisfied with the acquired knowledge and experience.
