The internship program for undergraduate and graduate students of Ukrainian universities has ended. Among the participants is Anna Shpurik, a third-year student of the Department of Journalism and Philology of the  FРSС of Sumy State University.

The organizers selected 20 participants from higher education institutions of Lviv, Odesa, Sumy, Kyiv, Chernivtsi, Kharkiv and others on a competitive basis. As part of the program, students completed a two-week internship in leading newsrooms in Kyiv, in particular, they worked at Suspilny, Liga.net, Public Radio, Forbes Ukraine, Radio Culture, Public TV, Detektor Media, Ukrainer, “Kyiv”, etc.

The participants also attended trainings from leading Ukrainian journalists and cultural figures, went on excursions to the editorial office of TRC "Kyiv", and to the office of the Serhiy Prytula Charitable Foundation. In particular, Dmytro Tuzov, media analyst of the Society Foundation, host of Radio NV, conducted trainings for the "Khabivites"; Ihor Razkladai, media law expert; Marysya Nikityuk, director, member of the European Film Academy and others. At the trainings, experts talked about the work of a military journalist, methods of countering Russian fakes and disinformation, features of the Media Law, mental support for media workers, etc.

Anna Shpurik, who completed an internship at Ukrainer and “NZL” from The Ukrainians within the framework of the Military Media Mobility Hub, shares her impressions:

– Two weeks of internship became quite a challenge for me. I felt the extremely fast rhythm of work in editorial offices, learned the peculiarities and subtleties of the profession, talked with famous journalists and experts from the media, cultural and socio-political spheres. My internship in two editorial offices was rich and productive. But with the editor of the “NZL” media, we agreed to continue to cooperate.

The “Military Hub of Media Mobility” program was implemented by the Society Foundation together with the NGO “Internews-Ukraine” with the assistance of the “Media Detector” online publication.

In general, the constant participation of students in non-formal and informal education programs is the philosophy of the Department of Journalism and Philology of the Faculty of FРSС of Sumy State University, aimed at improving the educational process. And that’s how #Mediaspace_leads_to_the_universe.
