On March 9, Taras Shevchenko’s birthday, students of the Department of Journalism and Philology of the FРSС of Sumy State University received a special award for reading the poet1s lines at the “I and Kobzar” contest.

Schoolchildren and students of Sumy took part in the competition “I and Kobzar”, dedicated to Taras Shevchenko’s birthday. The organizer of the event is the youth policy department of the Sumy City Council. Among the 110 participants who prepared 98 video clips with the poet’s poems, two groups were singled out - the educational television studio “11th floor” of our department and the design studio “ARTel moda”.

StudioTV “11th floor” was represented by Arina Stolbtsova, Zakhar Yuvko, Daryna Ruban, Alina Shevchenko, Myroslav Derevyanko and Anatoly Serdyuk. These are students of different courses who have united to learn Kobzar’s meanings and convey them to contemporaries.

Associate professor Inna Havryliuk and head of the educational television studio Raisa Stoyan helped the students realize the idea. Myroslav Derevyanko, a third-year student, was engaged in video shooting and editing.

– The cultural war is also an important front. And with the beginning of full-scale actions of the Russian Federation, many people looked at Shevchenko’s work in a different way, saw the actual images created by his imperishable work, – says first-year student Daryna Ruban.

– This is a very useful competition for young people, after all, most of the participants are schoolchildren, so in this way respect and love for Kobzar’s work is instilled in the younger generation of Ukrainians. This is really important. We wanted to demonstrate our vision of the meanings in Shevchenko’s lines, and our efforts did not go unnoticed, – fourth-year student Anatoliy Serdyuk shares his impressions.

The video was also commented on in social networks. Thus, the deputy mayor of Sumy for the activities of executive authorities, Stanislav Polyakov, wrote on his Facebook page: “Incredible emotions from watching the video clip of the Department of Journalism of IFSK Sumy State University. My delight and applause for you. I recommend everyone to watch. The work is wonderful”.
